Dr Matowe also serves as the Dean & Director of the School of Pharmacy at Eden University. In this capacity he works with the pharmacy fraternity to make the training of pharmacists in Zambia professional and enjoyable. At Eden, he has created a number of students scholarships both at undergraduate and at post graduate level. Across Africa, from Liberia, Nigeria to Tanzania, over 20 students have benefited from his generous scholarships. He enjoys working with students and creating the future. He is also currently the patron of the Zambia Pharmacy Students Association and annually he sponsors a professional and scientific conference that brings pharmacy students from across Zambia, together.
Outside the classroom, Dr Matowe serves on a number of international committees including chairing the People that Deliver Initiative (PtD), serving on the Global Fund Market Dynamics Committee, among others, and being one of the founders and Director of PICMA Africa Limited: https://www.picma-scm.com/our-team. PICMA is cross Africa multiple million-dollar consultancy firm. Dr Matowe has worked in the USA, the UK, Europe and over 20 countries in Africa, including working with multilateral donor agencies and implementing partners
In academia, Dr Matowe has taught at various universities including serving as a visiting lecturer at MUHAS in Tanzania, KNUST in Ghana, University of Benin in Nigeria, University of Liberia, Makerere University in Uganda, TUT in South Africa among many others.
Dr Matowe holds a PhD in Health Practice & Policy, an MSc in Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (both University of Aberdeen in the UK,) and a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (Hons) from the University of Zimbabwe. He is a proud pharmacist and sees pharmacy as the best professional ever designed by man.
