PASTOR CHANDA’S FAREWELL DINNER

On Saturday, 4th February, 2023 The Eden University Management hosted a farewell party in celebration and honour of Pastor Chanda Mwenya at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka. Pastor Mwenya who was until his retirement, the founding Chaplain, Dean of student Affairs and an Adventist pastor at the Eden University SDA church was officially seen off at a lavish farewell Dinner at the Intercontinental Hotel.

Speaking at the event, the University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Alvert N. Ng’andu thanked Pastor Chanda Mwenya for his service at Eden University and he went on to appreciate the Adventist Pastor for his efforts in cementing Eden University into an internationally recognized Christian University.

Dr, Alvert N’gandu assured the Pastor that his legacy shall live on at the University even as the Christian Church is facing various adversities worldwide. Dr. Ng’andu also urged the current staff taking over from Pastor Chanda Mwenya under the clergy of Pastor Paul Mwila to continue building on the Christian principles and values founded by Pastor Mwenya.

Speaking at the same event, The University President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Kelvin Kaunda thanked the Pastor Chanda for his great service to the University and recounted his time at Eden University as an honour. Mr. Kaunda wished the Pastor God’s blessings as he embarks on other endeavors away from the University and Mr. Kaunda also committed himself to buying the Pastor a car as a retirement gift to him.

In his last official speech, pastor Mwenya thanked the entire University fraternity for having had worked with them. He also thanked the University CEO for the privilege he was given to be the founding University chaplain. He urged the University to continue perfecting the Eden dream borne of a young and determined visionary man in Kelvin Kaunda.

Tributes poured in from different University members of staff who had the privilege to work with the Pastor. They counted it as a blessing to have had the honour of working with him in good and bad times. Other members of staff appealed to the pastor to continue leaving his door open as his departure from the University should not close up room for consultancy, counselling and advice. The University Management presented Pastor Chanda with a brand new Samsung smart television set in appreciation of his unwavering service to the institution. Other activities at the event included music and food.
