In view of the upcoming Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition slated for 9th to 11th February, 2024. The Vice Chancellor, Dr.Alvert N. Ng’andu and other Senior members of staff had lunch with the participants to motivate them in readiness for the competition on Thursday, 1st February,2024.
The Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition is the world’s largest moot competition. Named after Philip C. Jessup, a past Judge of the International Court of Justice, the competition is organised by the International Law Students Association (ILSA).
In recent years, 700 law schools in 100 jurisdictions have participated. The competition is based on a fictional dispute between States that is brought before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) for determination. The competition begins with National rounds where participating law schools in a particular jurisdiction compete against each other. The winners of national rounds represent their respective countries at the international rounds in Washington, D.C.
This year, Eden University’s School of Law will be making its maiden appearance at this very prestigious international competition. The University will be represented by our very capable law students William Ngulube, Karabo Robert, Tatenda Dumba, Taurai Chihururu and Jeff Banda. Having taken second position in the first Law Association of Zambia Moot Court Competition in 2023, which attracted the participation of 10 institutions, we are hopeful that the team will continue to make Eden University proud.
